2022 National FFA Week Is Here!
Feb 21, 2022
FFA has been an integral part of the agricultural community for almost a century. As an organization it has acted as a way for future generations to stay involved and learn more about the agricultural community while in school. It’s also been a way for those with no history in agriculture to get involved and join the community. Since FFA is such an important part of the community, it makes sense people would want to celebrate it as not only an important part of agriculture and its history, but as a way to raise awareness and get more people involved.
FFA week was established in 1947 and had its first celebration the following year. National FFA week was the natural evolution from National FFA Day and when established it was agreed it should be celebrated the week of George Washington’s birthday due to his importance to FFA as a prominent leader and successful agriculturalist.
So why is FFA Week so important?
With the organization being important to so many community members due to their involvement or their family’s involvement, reasonably, they would want to celebrate such an integral part of their lives and involvement in agriculture. It allows them to look back on fond memories of their own and encourage the current members to stay involved and help secure the future of agriculture. Furthermore, celebrating FFA spreads the word about the organization to those who are unfamiliar with it and its work.
Raising awareness for the organization, allowing past members to not only support the organization through the FFA Week events but also look back on their own experiences, as well as celebrating the current members and their work are all what make FFA Week important.
