Data collected from farm fields is becoming more and more valuable. Whether it is used for determining value of land or basing decisions in season the data has increasingly become more important. From remote sensing, weather stations, soil moisture/temperature probes, imagery from planes, drones, or satellites, to as-applied planting/spray/harvest data the number of layers of information from your fields is mind-boggling.

The Sunrise Precision Solutions (SPS) data team can help navigate the complex layers to try and provide clarity from the noise. We utilize new tools, crop nutrient modeling, satellite imagery, and weather information, with the old(er) tools like GIS platforms to compile and analyze data to help you maximize return on investment and increase yield. This is done through variable rate planting prescriptions, nitrogen management through modeling, crop performance through imagery, and weather impacts with weather/nutrient models. 

We know it’s a complex world of data, and will get more complex in the future. We test the tools, constantly investigate new opportunities, and work to slow the pace of advancement with understanding on our part to communicate the benefits in the field to you.

Tri-State Fertilizer Recommendations

The Tri-State Nutrient Recommendations have change the presentation of numbers from soil tests results. Sunrise Cooperative will take the opportunity to change from reporting soil tests from pounds/acre to parts per million (ppm).

4R Nutrient Stewardship


As Sunrise continues to advance, our focus also rests on the environment and our surrounding world. We believe there is more that can be done to keep our water and nutrient sources pure and have adapted the 4R Nutrient Stewardship concept. 4R Nutrient Stewardship provides a framework to achieve cropping system goals, such as increased production, increased farmer profitability, enhanced environmental protection and improved sustainability.

Properly managed fertilizers support cropping systems that provide economic, social and environmental benefits. On the other hand, poorly managed nutrient applications can decrease profitability and increase nutrient losses, potentially degrading water and air.

Sunrise Leads the Way with 4R Certification

Four facilities earn year-six certification, while three locations are tabbed with year-one certification Fremont, Ohio



Sunrise Cooperative, Inc. has received notification from the Nutrient Stewardship Council that its Attica, Ballville, Crestline and Norwalk agronomy facilities have retained its 4R Certification for the sixth year. These locations are the first facilities to earn year six certification.

Also earning recognition for with year-one certification are the Sunrise South Charleston, Osgood and Uniopolis agronomy locations.

A leader in agriculture, nutrient management and addressing water quality concerns in the Lake Erie Basin, and the full state of Ohio, Sunrise has proven they are managed in accordance with the 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Standard.
