Learn By Doing in the Sunrise Internship Program

Jun 16, 2022

An opportunity for real-world, hands-on experience awaits students through the Sunrise Cooperative Internship Program. Annually, Sunrise looks for out of the box thinkers, who are hard workers, willing to put forth the extra effort to take care of our customer-owners.

The program was developed to offer an opportunity for real-world, hands-on professional experience for students navigating their career paths. As an intern you will provide support in all departments at Sunrise, which includes agronomy, energy, grain and precision. To assist with the overall experience, all interns are placed with a mentor to guide them as they learn applicable skills to help enhance the future of the agricultural industry.

“The internship program is going great this summer,” said 2022 intern Brady Linker. “I enjoy the variety of experiences I am getting involved with, which have all led to learning something new. I also get to add in my personal interests on any given day, which allows me to really gain valuable insights.”

An integral part of the agronomy division, interns are looked upon to lead the scouting efforts on all fields assigned, while also enhancing the efforts of the nationally recognized Sunrise Precision Solutions (SPS) team.

Interns will gain experience in operations of the cooperative system, while exploring our in-house crop nutrition and crop protection brand, PCT | Sunrise. Finally, all interns will provide support with our propane side of our energy division.

“This internship has allowed me to see the very realistic side of the business,” stated Brinley Fairbrand. “From relationships, visits on the farm, providing solutions for the customers to how the facility operates, I am literally learning something new every day, which is great!”

Time spent in the Sunrise Internship Program concludes with a capstone project, developed by the intern, with guidance from their mentor. Projects are centered around a concept and/or idea that provides an opportunity to enhance Sunrise’s offerings and service to our customer-owners. All projects are presented to members of the Sunrise Senior Management Team and each intern has the opportunity to receive a Sunrise college scholarship.

The online application window is open beginning in September through the end of October, with internship positions being offered in December. To learn more about the Sunrise Internship Program visit www.sunriseco-op.com/careers#interns.
